Embrace the adventure!

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of teaching, mentoring, and coaching hundreds of leaders and communicators, from senior pastors to youth ministers, from strategists to catalysts. At this season of life following over four decades of work with leaders, nothing excites me more than coaching leaders who want to be become the best they can and realize no one can do this alone.

I know what it is to see great blessing and success, and I’ve walked through deep pain and failure. All the experiences of life prepared me to serve leaders, challenging you toward excellence while identifying pitfalls along the way.

I’ve written over 20 books and spoken at thousands of events from college campuses to megachurches, and from church plants to leadership conferences. Let me add value to your vital work by walking alongside you as your coach!

Elisha had Elijah.

Timothy had Paul.

Bill Walton had John Wooden.

You need someone who will push you but is for you, who will help you think but not tell you what to think, and help you grow while showing grace.

Everyone who excelled had someone in their corner.

If you are a leader, you need a coach. Let’s talk today!

A little about me. The only thing special about me is that I’m a recipient of amazing grace and called to a mission to serve others. I agree with James K.A. Smith that you are what you love. Here are some things I love:

I love to travel; I’ve been to 34 countries and over 40 states.

I love to teach: I’ve taught full or part-time at a dozen schools and spoken as a guest at many more. I currently teach adjunctively at my alma mater, Samford University, and at Valor Christian College.

I love to coach: I’ve learned in recent years that there is no greater way to help a leader than as a coach. I’ve been certified with the John Maxwell Group as a coach and in public speaking.

I love to write: I’ve authored or edited over two dozen books and have many more to write. I love helping aspiring or veteran writers get better at their craft.

I love learning: I earned the Ph.D. years ago because of my love of learning. To quote the protagonist in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein, I’ve been “deeply smitten with the thirst for knowledge.” I’m innately curious. Leaders are readers!

I love people: Encouraging and adding value are two things I seek to do.

I love God: I’ve been shown far more grace than I could ever deserve or even understand. I’m growing in this daily, but nothing matters more than serving my Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m grateful: I’ve learned that understanding grace leads to gratitude, the pathway to joy.

I pursue excellence: I believe we were made to pursue excellence. Excellence is a journey we can pursue together.

I value resilience: Not giving up—no matter the challenges, failures, and fears along the way—builds resilience and faith like nothing else.

I love family: I’m a happy, happy grandpappy. Nothing better!
